About Rachel

Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis upper east side nyc rachel goldmanTherapy is a collaborative process between two people; an opportunity to examine your life and relationships.  One of the most important aspects of a successful therapeutic experience is the relationship between patient and therapist.  Therapy is most effective when the patient feels comfortable with his or her therapist and is able to open up freely.

Many times we see where we want to be in our lives, but can’t figure out how to get there or change patterns that were established long ago.  Through our work together you will gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of yourself and how you interact with those around you.  I believe that people are stronger, happier and more successful when they are connected to those around them.  Together we will explore ways of changing your relational patterns and try to understand what has led to the establishment of these patterns.

Therapy is a chance for you to have someone listen to you on a deep level, and offer insight and suggestions as to how you can make changes that will ultimately improve your life.  Our work together will focus on the present, which we will gain an increased insight of through exploration of your past.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hold a four year post graduate certificate in Adult Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy.  In my practice on the Upper East Side I work with adults as well as couples.
